OPELOUSAS - A St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office detective has been arrested and charged with having sex with juveniles.
Detective Guy C. Dupre, 33, of the 300 block of Nall Road, Krotz Springs, was arrested Thursday. He has been charged with carnal knowledge of a juvenile, indecent behavior with a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Jim Smith with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office said his office is cooperating with the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office, which is expected to file similar charges against Dupre.

According to Smith, the case started with a tip called to the sheriff's hot line at 948-0970 alleging Dupre was acting inappropriately with young girls.
"The detectives investigated the allegations and found evidence that the crime had taken place," Smith said. "During the investigation our detectives learned Detective Dupre engaged in sexual intercourse with juvenile girls on at least two occasions in 2006."

Smith said the two in question were 15 and 16 at the time of the incidents, which police said took place in Krotz Springs and in Pointe Coupee Parish.

Smith said Dupre resigned. He is being held in the St. Landry Parish Jail without bond.

Smith said Sheriff Bobby Guidroz then immediately contacted the Pointe Coupee Sheriff's Office with the information and is cooperating fully with their investigation.
