Middleton Gets Stay of Execution

Condemned killer John Middleton will not be executed July 30 following a ruling by the Missouri Supreme Court on Friday.


Middleton, 48, who was scheduled to die by lethal injection for the murders of Stacy Hodge, Randy Hamilton and Alfred Pinegar in June 1995, has had his execution stayed until further notice by the Missouri Supreme Court. A writ of habeas corpus filed July 3 was denied, however, a motion to stay the execution, filed Thursday, was granted late Friday without any further explanation given by the court.
