ATLANTA, GA (WTOC) - Today the Chatham County Superior Court ordered the execution of convicted murderer Jack Alderman.

Alderman killed his wife back in 1974 and has been waiting on death row ever since. He's the longest serving prisoner there.

This past May, a federal judge dismissed his lawyer's claim that Georgia's method of lethal injection was unconstitutional.

The execution is scheduled to take place at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson at 7pm on September 16.
